Wytches #1 Review at Comics for Sinners

wytchescoverOver at the news site Comics for Sinners, you’ll find my review of Wytches #1, on sale now from Image Comics. Written by Scott Snyder (Batman) and illustrated by Jock (The Losers), it’s the first issue in a terrifying new series about a family’s encounter with the ancient, evil creatures that reside in the woods of Pennsylvania. Sailor Rooks is the new girl at school, a quirky teenager ostracized by the other students because of a terrifying, bloody event in her past—one that’s come back to haunt her, now that dark forces have taken great interest in her. If you’re into character-driven horror with a Blair Witch Project sort of feel, then Wytches just might be a comic you want to pick. Head over to C4S and check out the review!

The Saga of Pandora Zwieback #0Speaking of quirky teenage girls in dark-urban-fantasy settings, have you met Pandora Zwieback yet? The Saga of Pandora Zwieback chronicles the adventures of sixteen-year-old Pandora Zwieback, a Gothy horror fangirl who possesses amazing powers that she just learned about, including the ability to see past the human disguises worn by monsters to blend in with society. And you can meet her in the free, downloadable comic The Saga of Pandora Zwieback #0: a 16-page, full-color introduction to Pan and her world that includes two sample chapters from the novel Blood Feud: The Saga of Pandora Zwieback, Book 1. Both the novel and the comic are written by Steven A. Roman (that’s me), the bestselling author of the novels X-Men: The Chaos Engine Trilogy and Final Destination: Dead Man’s Hand; the comic features art and color by Eliseu Gouveia, artist of the illustrated classics Carmilla and A Princess of Mars, and the mature readers’ graphic novel Lorelei: Sects and the City.
